OCC Orphanage Care Camp: A Milestone for Holistic Childcare in Khyber Kor
From May 20 to 23, 2025, a remarkable event unfolded in Peshawar under the direction of Dr. Hasan Khushi and the coordination of the Kurram Doctors Union (KDU). The Orphanage Care Camp (OCC) wasn’t just a medical intervention — it was a carefully orchestrated initiative aimed at providing orphaned children with the physical, mental, and emotional attention they deserve.
We at OSO (Omeed Social Organisation) are proud to be the official collaborator along side LEARN the book, in this extraordinary event — a model of what community-driven, professional healthcare can look like.

Beyond Check-Ups: A Four-Day Program
Each day of the OCC Camp had a specific purpose, carefully designed to maximize both short-term impact and long-term benefit for orphaned children and those who care for them.

Day 1 – The Stations: Full Health Screening & Creative Play
The first day was dedicated to a structured medical screening, known as “The Station.” Children were guided through a series of stations:
- Physical Health Station : General medical check-ups and health assessments.
- Mental Health Station : Emotional well-being evaluated by trained professionals.
- Dental Health Station : Oral hygiene screenings and education.

Between each station, children were engaged in thoughtfully designed play areas that offered:
Physical activities
Intellectual games
Artistic expression
This thoughtful approach helped create a safe, joyful, and interactive environment, turning what could have been a clinical process into a day of comfort and connection.
Day 2 – Hospital Visits for Follow-Up
Children who were identified during Day 1 as requiring further medical attention were accompanied to hospitals on the second day. This ensured:
Proper diagnostic follow-ups
Access to treatments or referrals
Personalized care beyond the camp setting
This step reflects the depth of planning and commitment to continuity of care that defined the OCC Camp.
Day 3 – Distribution of Essential Items

On the third day, the focus shifted to material support. Free distributions included:
- Medicines
- Educational books
- Hygiene products
These items were carefully selected to empower children with tools for daily health and learning — continuing the support beyond the event itself.
Day 4 – Staff Training & First Aid Education
The final day was dedicated to the caregivers and staff responsible for the children’s day-to-day lives. Key highlights included:
Guidance sessions on child health and behavior
Basic First Aid training for emergencies
Open discussions on how to maintain and build upon what the camp had started
This day ensured that the impact would continue through the hands of those present every day in these children’s lives.
A Model of True Collaboration
From the initial planning to the final day, every detail of the OCC Camp was strategically and compassionately executed. The event would not have been possible without the leadership of Dr. Hasan Khushi, the dedication of KDU, and the generosity of partners and sponsors — including OSO.

OSO Health’s Commitment Going Forward
For OSO, this camp represents more than a sponsorship — it reflects our vision for what healthcare should be: integrated, local, people-centered, and dignified.
This successful model will inspire the rollout of future OSO Health initiatives across Parachinar and beyond — step by step, hand in hand with our community.
We thank every individual who made this possible. Most of all, we celebrate the children — for their resilience, their smiles, and their right to a healthier tomorrow.
MashaAllah, Hassan your dedication to managing the Orphan Care Camp is truly inspiring! Providing care and support to orphaned children is a noble cause, and your medical expertise is making a huge difference. You’re not just a doctor, you’re a blessing to these kids. Keep up the amazing work
